Long enough to know its strengths cold, and exactly where it grinds you down: slow to build, heavy, insecure by default, a maintenance treadmill that never ends. CaveCMS is what he built instead.
The goal was specific: the speed and polish of a hand-coded site, plus the one thing those sites always lacked, a way for a non-technical person to actually edit them. You pick a template, change anything with a click on the real page, and put it live on a small server, or the cPanel hosting you might already have. If you’d rather, an AI agent edits it for you over a real API.
It bakes in everything you’d normally bolt onto WordPress with a pile of plugins (SEO, security, redirects, backups, analytics), and it’s fair source, so it keeps shipping without becoming one more subscription you can’t leave. The best way to understand it is to read a guide or two, or just start a site.
