Why this licence

Honest about the
way this works.

CaveCMS is open and auditable on GitHub. Personal use is free forever. Commercial use funds the project so it keeps shipping. That arrangement has a name now: fair source, and it powers Plausible, Sentry, and Cal.com.

Built by one person.

After twelve years and hundreds of sites in WordPress, Derrick Siawor wrote CaveCMS solo, in Accra, Ghana. Commercial licences are how this stays a project rather than one that vanishes.

Free for the community.

Personal sites, charities, schools, and side projects get the full product, with no expiry and no key. The way it should be.

Fair source, not extractive.

The licence is "fair source", same family used by Plausible, Sentry, Cal.com. Source open and auditable; commercial use funds the maintainer.

Questions

The honest
answers.

The full licence text is on GitHub. The plain-English summary lives on the Prosperity Licence's own homepage.

In plain English: anything that is not directly making someone money. Your portfolio site, a family blog, a charity, a school project, a non-profit, a government department, an academic research site: all noncommercial. Your company's product site, your SaaS dashboard, a site you build for a paying client: those are commercial. If you're unsure, send a quick email and we will give you a straight answer.
